My friend Andy Mueller is having a nice little end of summer sale over at The Quiet Life.
You should check it out and snag yourself a deal on his dope limited edition t-shirts, and other awesome things with his radical graphic design pictures on them.
Before they’re all gone.
Also, make sure to check out their Good Cause t-shirt. 100% of profits from sales will be donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation .

Dr. Martens - MONOTONE Collection - 1480 8 Eye Boot
I used to wear Doc’s all the time in the late 90’s. Now I don’t. But these are still a nice looking design item.
The Dr. Martens MONOTONE Collection is just that, a single color scheme, from heel tab all the way to the outsole. Aside from the color, the Dr. Martens MONOTONE retains all the same features as the original 1480 8 Eye Boot. Available for a limited time only at all chapters of BEAMS across Japan.

New Balance A12's
So I just saw these sick New Balance A12‘s that only came out in Japan. I don’t know why they get all the cool limited edition shoes. When I worked for one of the big footwear companies in the surf industry, they made a few really nice styles for release only in Japan too. What’s the deal? Are we not worthy?
I could only find these for sale on a Japanese website for 28,00 Yen, and when I translated the text, google told me it said this:
New Blance shoes emerged from the room’s insistence. New design is balance among the popular model of long seller “M1400” based on. The mesh material is used for ventilation resistance throughout the year, you can wear comfortably. Also stepping on a heel-wearing slippers as they can be. As well as home as well as the best destination item.

Quiksilver Two Feathers Tee
I was poking around the Quiksilver site last night, and I came across this shirt by artist Andy Howell.
I don’t wear a whole lot of branded surf tees (I hate paying to wear someone’s big logo on my chest), but I can’t even see a Quik logo anywhere on this tee, and the artwork is pretty dope.
Plus, you can totally cut-out the surf shops now and just buy directly from Quik. No more middleman.
Just kidding, if you can find this shirt at your favorite local shop buy it there, but if you can’t find it at your local shop, buy it here.

Zuriick - Ake
Here’s another new alternative (rip-off) version of the classic Vans slip-on. As I’ve stated in the past, I’m pretty over it, but if you’re still not, Zuriick seems to be making some pretty nice shoes.

Slipoffs
This girl Shauna Luedtke makes one-of-a-kind hand painted Vans. They’re pretty cool. I think at $180, they’re a little expensive, but then when you consider it takes her 5-10 hours to do each pair, and then you subtract the $60 for the cost of the shoes themselves, I think that means she ends up making about $3 an hour if my math is correct. If you’re not totally sick of the Vans resurgence like I am, then this isn’t a bad deal for you if you want some custom kicks.
Then you can be totally trendy, but a little different.

Please Stop Forcing the 80's On Me!
I grew up in the 80’s. It was fun, I get it. I love the music, and the movies. It was awesome. But why is everyone trying to make me think fluorescent clothes are cool again?
I realize that every designer in the industry grew up in the 80’s, and it holds fond memories for us. So it’s fun for you to make all of this “retro” stuff, but come on already, have we had enough of the 80’s resurgence yet?
I’m kind of over it. There are a lot of talented people in this industry, and it would be great to see some forward thinking instead of blatant trend following. Most of us that fell into this lifestyle are pretty unique individuals, and a lot of us actually like to feel like we are going against the trends, so please stop trying to make us all think we should wear this 80’s fluoro crap. We’re not buying into it.
It would be cool to see what’s next, and this time it would be great if everybody’s products didn’t look exactly the same.

Clae - Garvey
Apparently slip-ons are “in” this year. If you’re looking for a slightly upscale departure from the ongoing Vans look-a-like contest, these are a nice choice. I’ve owned a pair for about 6 months (since I’m way ahead of the curve) and they’re really comfortable.
I give them a big thumbs-up, and at $60 (for the non-leather ones), I think they’re quite a bargain too.

Keep Shoes - The Tobin
I’m liking these shoes called The Tobin from Keep, some shoe company I’ve never heard of before. Looks like they’re made for girls, but cool guys like me and you can pull them off too. I’m always on the lookout for cool new vegetarian shoes, and these are cool new vegetarian shoes.
About Keep:
Keep is a shoe company, a clothing company, an amalgam of interests, a way of being, a force, a language, a family and many other things. Our kicks are for ladies, though sometimes our promos are unisex, and plenty of dudes rock our shoes in larger sizes. We work with people we respect, love and who make us laugh. We aim to keep things personal. We do everything the way we think it should be done. We pay attention to details.
We do Keep for all the women who have their game tight, who work hard to make things happen, who spread positivity and energy around them, who take care of their loved ones and most importantly take care of themselves. We make Keep shoes for those women who are tired of clown shoes, too many bells and whistles, and the misappropriation of the color pink.
All Keep products are cruelty free.
