Some more insight on Insight

If you have the time, this video shows some of the making of last year’s “Zoup“ ad campaign. It’s worth watching because you get to see the process of how they actually put some of the ads together. And there’s some good surfing too.

Some insight on Insight

In case you haven’t noticed, Insight has the best surfing ad campaign in history. At first glance, you might be like “hey, what’s so great about it“, but the thing that Insight does that is revolutionary (in my opinion), is that the entire ad is created in the camera. There is no photoshop compositing here (like I assumed there was when I first saw the ads), they create the scene on the beach, their team guys paddle out and surf in the background, the photographer shoots the photo, and voila! Instant ad.

These ads are from the current season, but I just got a preview of next season’s campaign at ASR, and it’s even better. They’re AMAZING.

BIG BIG kudos to their creative department, you guys are awesome (except for your current website, It’s kind of a bummer to navigate).

C3d Industries Resin-x

We all hate breaking boards, but since the demise of Clark Foam, surfboard technology seems to be moving forward in a really positive way.

Check out the quick clip of this shaper (sorry, can’t find your name) jumping on a board he just shaped and glassed using this super-flexi new resin.

As far as performance, he says:

I’ve been using this board for the past few weeks and it has not let me down one bit. From suck out barrels, peaky beach breaks, howling offshore madness and pointbreaks.

A very lively feel. super responsive and just plain amazing!

Ry Craike Joins Super Surfboards

Don’t know about SUPER SURFBOARDS? Well it was started by young pro surfers: Clay Marzo, Kolohe Andino and Dion Agius, along with pro skater (and son of PT) Tosh Townsend. Their goal is to make a surfboard company more like a skate company like Girl and Chocolate, where the focus is on the riders and board graphics, and not the graphics. In fact, in my searching so far, there is no mention of who is shaping the boards at all. I can’t find it. Granted, I’m sure these guys wouldn’t be riding the boards if they didn’t work.

“I’m just stoked to be a part of this progressive young team and to have a lot of input at all levels. The boards look sick and they go amazing so I don’t think it will be long before SUPER is one of the top surfboard brands out there,” said Craike.

I can’t find a website for them yet.
