Red Bull Surfing: Inside Tahiti
This is pretty cool technology. At any time during the video playback, you can click on the screen and spin the camera around. You can even spin it around 360-degrees while you’re in the barrel. Unfortunately, for me, on my computer with a super-fast connection, it’s really jumpy and pretty unenjoyable. But maybe it will work better for you. Check it out, there are like 10 videos with Jamie O’Brien, Laird, Ian Walsh and others.
“I think we’ve made a small bit of history with this project,” tells test-pilot Jamie O’Brien, who, along with Jamie Sterling, Raimana Van Bastolaer, and Ian Walsh, had the audacity to strap 25 pounds of electrical equipment to his back and huck himself into the pit. “The video experience that we’ve captured is a first. The view that someone gets by controlling the footage is a perspective that even I’ve never had until now.”
“We’ve captured a totally new perspective of riding inside the barrel,” says Josh Kendrick, surf team manager for Red Bull. “By taking control of the camera, viewers become participants in the action – not just observers.”

Lost Boys: The Tribe
Well, 21 years later, they’ve finally made a sequel to the classic film The Lost Boys, and the good news, Cory Feldman is back. Not sure about the other Cory, he’s not in the trailer. Apparently in this film, Feldman is now a “surfboard shaper/vampire slayer”.
Like I said, Lost Boys is a CLASSIC, and pretty much everyone who grew up in the 80’s is a big fan of this film. I sure hope they don’t ruin it.
If you can sit through watching interviews with Cory, you can watch more about the film right here at Mtv.com

Archy - The Film
ARCH COMES TO LIFE
A documentary film on surf icon Matt Archbold’s life is set to be told this coming spring throughout theaters across America.
Billygoat Productions in conjunction with sponsors, RVCA, Surfer Magazine, Santa Cruz Surfboards, and Hoven in association with Studio411 is proud to present Archy – a documentary film on Matt “Archy” Archbold.
Directed by Bill Ballard (The Mystic, Blue Crush), Archy chronicles one of the most fascinating and talented surf icons throughout his career as top-amateur, dynamic and innovative pro, troubled athlete, and most of all a survivor.
Since exploding onto the surf scene at 14 years old, Archy’s surfing and style have influenced more than three generations of surfers.
A variety of professional surfers, musicians, and noted industry leaders lend their voices and experiences to the chapters of Archy’s story including the likes of Martin Potter, Chris Mauro, Art Brewer, Bruce Irons, Christian Fletcher, Dino Andino, Moses Paskowitz, Sunny Garcia, Herbie Fletcher and Garth Tarlow.
The film is narrated by rock legend, Henry Rollins.
The world premier for Archy is scheduled for Thursday 10th April in Newport Beach, CA. at the Lido Theater with a national tour, hosted by Director Bill Ballard, set to follow starting in Hermosa Beach on Friday 18th April.
The film will be available in both domestic and international surf shops from Tuesday, June 17th onwards.

Pineapple Express Red Band Trailer
Ok, I promise that this is the last post about Pineapple Express (until it comes out), but I just found another, more complete trailer, and it gives you a better idea of the actual storyline.
It still looks really funny.

The Foot Fist Way
I hope this is as good as it looks. As the trailer points out, Will Ferrell and Adam McKay both love the movie, apparently the entire Judd Apatow crew is obsessed with it.
The Foot Fist Way is directed by first-time feature filmmaker Jody Hill and written by Hill, friend Ben Best, and Danny McBride.
Synopsis:
After he attacks the man who slept with his wife, a tae kwon do instructor goes on a downward spiral that ultimately causes him to escape his feelings by going on a pilgrimage with his buddy and two of his students to see his hero, Chuck “The Truck” Wallace.

Style Evolution: Wipe Out
The Style Evolution project pays homage to the immense treasure of surf movies over the past 50 years, many of which are sadly becoming rapidly unavailable due to new video formats. This short film is a collage of wipeouts from 19 surf movies from 1963 to 2005.

Speaking of Things Moving Forward...
I just watched Jamie O’brien’s movie Freakside and it’s pretty crazy. Here’s a 4 minute YouTube clip from the movie of Jamie doing ridiculous things on a surfboard.
