New Jersey Sucks & Rich Old People Hate Nude Surfers
I lived and surfed in New Jersey for many years, and anyone who has grown up surfing in the Garden State knows that the laws and the cops are pretty out of control. The beach towns up and down the coast are full of wealthy old white people who hate surfers, and there are a million cops hiding behind every nook and crannie waiting to bust you for doing anything.
But this new law is pretty crazy:
LONG BEACH TOWNSHIP (AP) – April 21, 2008 — One Jersey Shore community will no longer allow people to change into and out of wet suits on the streets leading to the beach.
But some surfers and business owners in the Long Beach Township area are strongly opposed to the plan.
They say the ordinance isn’t needed and will be hard to enforce. They also say police in the Ocean County town have more important matters to deal with.
But Mayor DiAnne Gove says the law came about because numerous residents have complained about people undressing in the streets.
She notes the town has three public restrooms in the area where people can change.
