Point Break Live!
Went to see this the other night, and it was pretty damn fun. Basically, if you’ve seen the movie “Point Break,” it’s a live version of the movie. The show is at Charlie O’s at the Alexandria Hotel (a seedy place in downtown L.A.), and it features a make-shift set, and some pretty funny acting. The best part is that Keanu Reeves’ character in the movie, Johnny Utah, an undercover FBI agent, is played by an audience member!! They have a casting call at the beginning, and whoever wins by hand clap popular vote gets to be Johnny Utah! This works because Keanu Reeves is such a horrible actor and pretty much anyone can do his lines.
If you’ve got the time and liked the movie, it’s totally worth one of your Friday or Saturday nights and $20 (+$6 parking & $10 drinks).
