Korn Auditions Their New Drummer
If you’ve ever wondered how a band like Korn auditions a new drummer, well, this is how.
Looks like this guy Ray Luzier beats the shit out of the skins, and in a recent interview, original Korn member and funky bass player “Fieldy” says “[Luzier is] my favorite drummer I’ve ever played with.” Which is a pretty big claim considering Joey Jordison (Slipknot’s incredible drummer) held the position last.

Drive Thru New Zealand Trailer
Finally, we get to see the much anticipated (by me) trailer for Drive Thru New Zealand. Next month I’ll be embarking on my own little Drive Thru New Zealand (except by myself instead of with Occy and Benji), and this DVD can’t come out soon enough for me. Really looking forward to it.
Release Date: Mid-April 2008(?)

Dono, Jack & Zappos
Check out the new commercial that my good friend Richard Henkels (check out his AWESOME website for hours of entertainment) just shot for Zappos. The spot uses Donavon Frankenreiter‘s song “Free”, which Dono originally had on his demo, but then re-recorded with Jack Johnson for his self-titled debut.
I may be wrong, but I think I remember them also using this song in a Verizon commercial last year. Good on ya’ Dono, keep ca$hing those checks!
What do you guys think of the spot? Fitting use for the song? I think it works.
p.s.- the quality isn’t great, I’ll post a better version when I find one.

Quiksilver Busted for TNT
Last year this Quiksilver commercial Dynamite Surfing went viral really quickly, and people (dumbasses) actually believed it was real.
Real or not, I just don’t understand why they picked such a kook for the surfing in the video, the guys got the worst style I’ve ever seen!
Anyway, here’s the show Mythbusters proving that it could never work.

The thing about the internets is that sometimes I can’t even tell anymore if this shit is real. I sure hope this is real though, because it’s just fucking awesome.

David Lynch for iPhone
I hate David Lynch films, I think they’re boring, high-budget dark-art bullshit, but I like this.
And by the way, I didn’t realize until I moved to L.A., but people don’t see or make movies here. I always thought they did. No, they make FILMS. If you say to someone around here “hey I’m going to a movie”, they look at you like you’re an ignorant piece of shit. You have to say “I’m going to a FILM“.

The Style Evolution project pays homage to the immense treasure of surf movies over the past 50 years, many of which are sadly becoming rapidly unavailable due to new video formats. This short film is a collage of wipeouts from 19 surf movies from 1963 to 2005.
